----------------------The Imaginary City-------------------------------

Imagine a city where creativity runs wild,...
Our hearts full of love, with hope like a child.
We collect moments not things,
And everyone is treated like queens and like kings.

Take the highway of progress then take a right,
Everyone's welcome here, we'll leave on the light.
No hunger or poverty, opportunity never runs dry
When you hurt I do too, your tears I also cry.

No matter what we believe, we believe in each other.
A city build on respect and bursting with colour.
Equality gained through collaboration,
Violence eliminated by education.

Generosity, not greed. Empathy, not pity.
Freedom for all in our imaginary city.
Here we foster growth and reduce the pollution,
Hard work and kindness is the solution.

Hope cities like this will one day be customary, be the new ordinary.
Looking back didn't all cities start out imaginary?

Society: seven billion, four hundred and four million, nine hundred seventy six thousand, seven hundred and eighty three.
Brothers, sisters, mothers, fathers, you and me.

Today you get bullied for your weight.
It's not your only trait.
You try to make a change,
But all you get is hate.

You work twice as hard to be great,
But you're paid a smaller rate,
Can't negotiate just because you menstruate.

You believe in a different God than the majority,
So you're treated without equality,
not considered a priority.

You're a girl in love with a girl,
So you're treated like you made the wrong choice,
Stripped of your voice.

You're skin is darker than white,
So instead of human rights you get indicts.
Can't shine bright if they turn off your light.

A girl born inside the body of a boy,
Want to be yourself, live a life full of joy,
But anyone different we try to destroy.

Society: seven billion, four hundred and four million, nine hundred seventy six thousand, seven hundred and eighty three.
We're not living free,
Still not being all we can be.
Too many still cannot see,
That change can start with you and me.

Monster

A beautiful girl with curious eyes
A hidden world of pain and lies,
A mask of fake smiles and "I'm fine"s
She lost herself in her own mind.

Her heart may be heavy, but she is not weak
For she battles a monster that no one can see.
Tired and lonely, filled with dismay
Her mind's always racing, she can't get away.

"Sometimes I wonder how my life would be, if who I was wasn't me?"
She thinks she's invisible, that the world would agree,
Without this darkness, she could be free.

Held together with tape and with glue
Happiness was always just out of view
She knows she needs help, motivation ran dry
It's time for the monster inside her to die.
Doubts are fading, this war has been won
Blue skies ahead, here comes the sun.

Out of suffering have emerged the strongest of souls,
Survived the sadness, achieved their goals.
The most massive characters are seared with scars,
But you need a little darkness to see the stars.

United

I am a girl, I am gay
A am a daughter, a sister, a student, a person
I should be able to be me without coercion
I was raised in a world of rights and wrongs
There was only black and white, no areas of gray
I was taught to stand tall, be brave, be strong.

I know now that the world is more complicated than it seems
Society is broken, people feel safer hiding than living their dreams
People are different and these differences should be celebrated
The world is uneducated
Exploding with ignorance and hate
Walk a mile in my shoes and tell me how you understand stripping someone of their rights because they weren't born straight.

To all you so called "supporters": actions speak louder than words, DO SOMETHING
Stop hiding behind broken promises and fight alongside us
United we'll stand
We'll battle as one against fear and labels
Together, hand in hand.

With critics silenced we will walk through life with pride
Gay, straight, transgender, side by side
No more going through life believing freedom is a pipe dream
The world will be in agreement: WE'RE ALL ON THE SAME TEAM.
